2016 Soil Festival Unites the Garden Community

The local food movement gathered around community gardeners on Saturday to offer them educational resources, gardening tools and organic compost.

From complimentary soil tests to compost workshops, gardeners had the perfect resources at their fingertips to build healthier communities from the ground up.

Food Well Alliance hosted the second annual Soil Festival, "Love Local: A Soil Festival to Grow Healthier Communities," at Truly Living Well's Collegetown Farm & Education Center on August 27.

The farm was full of familiar faces in the local food movement including community-based organizers, farmers, service providers, educators and youth gardeners.

Delicious food was provided by 2 Pieces of Toast, Terra Nova Compost's, Corinne Coe, and her team of compost advocates hosted compost workshops, DJ 5th Wurld AKA Tenisio Seanima (of Georgia Organics) gave us a great soundtrack for the day, and Ms Haylene, the Garden Queen brought the Maroons to finish out the day of festivities!
