Support the Expansion and Creation of Farmers Markets

Washington DC’s Farmers Market, FRESHFARM

FRESHFARM is a nonprofit based in Washington, DC that is working towards creating a more resilient, equitable, and sustainable food future. In 1997, they opened the DuPont Circle Farmers Market with 15 farmers from across four states selling a variety of fruits, vegetables, flowers, and plants. Today, FRESHFARM is the third largest farmers market organization in the country, with almost 30 markets across DC, Maryland, and Virginia hosting farmers and food producers from across the Mid-Atlantic.

The markets earn over $15 million annually. FRESHFARM also hosts the Fresh Match program, which matches dollar-for-dollar all federal benefits (SNAP/EBT, WIC, and Senior FMNP) spent at market to help shoppers take home more fresh, local food. Their Market Share program also provides a 75% off discount for CSA boxes for families who rely on food benefits.
