Beyond your Senators and Governors, there are a lot of people who are representing you and making decisions that will impact your community. It’s important to know who they are and what they care about, whether it’s the Commissioner of Agriculture, County Tax Commissioner, City Council Representative, or anyone else.
Food Well Alliance awards $100K to Chattahoochee Hills and Palmetto to expand local food access. Sarah Brown explains how communities will shape plans.
The Food Well Alliance and the city of Clarkston worked together to create a local food system plan to provide greater access to healthy food options and entrepreneurial opportunities.
Two south metro communities will work together over the next year to develop a plan aimed at strengthening local food production and access.
The creation of Food Well Alliance was made possible through funding from the founding benefactor, the James M. Cox Foundation, and through the vision of Jim Kennedy, Chairman Emeritus of Cox Enterprises and Chairman of the James M. Cox Foundation, and Bill Bolling, founder of the Atlanta Community Food Bank. Together, they saw an opportunity to build healthier communities across metro Atlanta by supporting and connecting members of our local food movement. Today, we support more than 300 community gardens, urban farms, and orchards in the Atlanta region.
