In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, Food Well Alliance has cancelled all events and convenings until June 1, 2020. During this time we are focusing our attention on allocating critical resources to our farm and garden partners and creating virtual experiences for metro Atlanta residents who want to remain engaged in the local food community. This blog will be updated with new resources and developments on Tuesdays and Thursdays. You can also tune into our Instagram Live Stream on Friday at 1 pm for a recap and interviews with farmers and local food organizations.

Farm Support Update

Chris Theal, Small Farmer at Large, has been on a roll! Since we started work on Friday, he has already managed to support Greenleaf Community Farm, On Da Farm, and Gilliam’s Community Farm with his tractor to get new beds ready for planting. If your farm needs tilling, tractor work, or additional labor support, please visit our Farm Resource Center to submit a request.

Giving Tuesday Now is Today!

Small-scale sustainable farmers across metro Atlanta and Georgia are essential to our wellbeing. They’re working hard to provide more fresh, healthy food than ever. But they face challenges of their own during the pandemic, and they need our help to get the job done.

Food Well Alliance, Georgia Organics, Community Farmers Markets, and other local food organizations are teaming up to support sustainable farmers for #GivingTuesdayNow – a day of global unity in response to the pandemic. Your donation TODAY to the COVID-19 Farmer Fund will help us meet our goal to provide $1,000 grants for 100 people

The Farmer Fund was created to support farmers in need. While the initial purpose was specific to natural disasters in the traditional sense, we have seen over the past few days that a pandemic like COVID-19 is its own natural disaster - and is certainly an emergency. We need to support our local farmers as they strive to continue growing healthy, local food for our children, families, seniors, and communities in this uncertain time. A coalition of Georgia's local food organizations mobilized quickly to address the need. Effective immediately, we are collaborating through the duration of this pandemic to support our farmers through The Farmer Fund. www.thefarmerfund.org
