Community Engagement Assistantship for AgLanta Grows-A-Lot Program
The goal of the AgLanta Grows-A-Lot program (GAL) is to create a clear, fair, and transparent system by which city-owned vacant properties can be utilized for urban agriculture. Community engagement and education are essential to the success of this program. The Mayor’s Office of Resilience (OoR) wishes to partner with a community-based organization with a proven track record cultivating a more equitable food system, to serve as a community engagement liaison. This summer assistantship will facilitate the community engagement process with Atlanta residents living within ¼ mile of urban garden and farm sites during a 90-day period in the summer of 2018 (Monday, June 4th – Friday, August 31st).
Community Engagement Objectives:
Provide general information about the AgLanta Grows-A-Lot Program and application process to those living and working within ¼ mile of the community garden and farm sites. Distribution of information to include but not limited to;
Printed event flyers for open house (materials will be printed by City)
Emails notification for pre-event and post-event summary
Phone trees notification of open house
Social media posts for pre-event invitation and post-event summary
Copy for meeting invitation and post-event summary to be used for www.AgLanta.org website.
Working with the program managers, the assistant’s responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
Press release/notification creation
Graphics generation and creative input
Social media engagement
The successful applicant for the position will meet the following requirements:
Highly motivated and creative problem solver with a great attitude
Organized, detail oriented, and good at task management
Ability to collaborate in various team structures, as well as work independently
Proficient experience with Google and Microsoft Office suite
Minority women and people of color are strongly encouraged to apply
Position will be paid by at $4,500 stipend for the summer.
