When COVID-19 struck, two truths guided our strategy:

First, there is no safer, healthier food than locally grown food. Increased access will not only help our communities survive the pandemic, but thrive in its aftermath. Second, the demand for this nutritious, immune-boosting food is greater than ever before.

Local farmers and gardeners across metro Atlanta stepped up to meet the demand for fresh, healthy food. In response, Food Well Alliance dramatically amplified our programming to provide additional resources to keep growers growing — safely and efficiently.

The value of local farmers and community gardeners growing food in our communities is more apparent than ever. We encourage you to support growers across metro Atlanta directly. You can also join us in our efforts to build thriving farms and community gardens across metro Atlanta here.

The Farmer Fund

A coalition of Georgia's local food organizations — including Food Well Alliance, Georgia Organics and Community Farmers Markets — mobilized quickly around The COVID-19 Emergency Farmer Fund to support local farmers so they could continue growing healthy, local food for our children, families, seniors, and communities. We collectively raised over $100,000 for local farmers and distributed no-strings attached grants of $1,000 per farm.
