Food Well Alliance is a collaborative network of local leaders working together to build thriving community gardens and urban farms across metro Atlanta. Our mission is to provide resources and support to local growers to connect and build healthier communities.

Grow With Us!

Together, we can realize our vision of an equitable, local food ecosystem in which everyone can participate and benefit. That includes you! Volunteer, donate or join us in this week’s featured action step:

Earth Day Compost Giveaway

In celebration of Earth Day, Food Well Alliance is giving away free compost to gardeners! Whether you are growing food in your backyard or have a bed at a community garden, all growers are welcome to stop by on Friday, April 19 and Saturday, April 20.

Food Well has been giving away compost for Earth Day since 2022, distributing 35 cubic yards annually to help nearly 200 households start their spring gardens. Compost will be located outside in the parking lot of 970 Jefferson Street NW and available to collect at your convenience from 10 am - 3 pm on both Friday and Saturday. We’ll have volunteers to help with shoveling and loading compost.

You can also help by volunteering! Volunteers will greet visitors and assist with loading containers of compost during pickups. Sign up here.

Join us for Soil Festival 2024!

Tickets for the 9th annual Soil Festival are live! This spring, Food Well Alliance, WABE, and WSB-TV Family 2 Family are excited to host Atlanta’s premier urban agriculture event and continue our tradition of celebrating the importance of healthy soil and urban agriculture. Soil Festival is on Saturday, May 4 from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m at Atlanta’s historic Maddox Park.

Your ticket covers admission food, beverages, and activities including:

  • Food Trucks (choose from one of three local food vendors)

  • Beer Garden, local teas, and juices

  • Workshops on composting, beekeeping, gardening, and seed starting

  • Cooking demo

  • Local growers' panel discussion

  • Kids Corner

  • Compost Giveaway

  • Music

  • Yoga

  • And much more!

Plus, we’ll have a plant sale and farmers market with vendors selling locally crafted goods.

The cost of your ticket goes toward providing critical resources to over 300 local farms, community gardens, and orchards. This is a great way to support local growers while learning how to grow your own food. Get ready for a bigger, better Soil Festival!

Responding to Crisis

This was Food Well Alliance’s response to one of the greatest crises we've ever faced. We continue to follow CDC guidelines to protect our team members, volunteers, and growers.
