This workshop - hosted by UGA’s Food Science Extension program - is geared towards farmers, foodies, innovators, and entrepreneurs; they can be in the planning stages of their dream or have a food business already up and running.
If you have an interest in starting your own food business or brand, this workshop is the perfect starting point for you! The presentations are designed to provide participants with practical information on producing safe and wholesome food products. Attendees will have the opportunity to have all of their questions answered by food industry experts.

This workshop addresses many of the concerns of the food entrepreneur who is just getting started. The UGA Extension faculty and representatives from the National Center for Home Food Preservation and the Georgia Department of Agriculture and FDA will address the following topics (and more!):
Meeting GDA and FDA regulations
Challenges involved with starting a food business
Obtaining label approval
Choosing a co-packer or shared kitchen
Product testing for safety (pH, temp, etc.)
Processing techniques for food safety and longer shelf life
Food safety sanitation
Managing product recalls
