Lola’s Organic SSARE Field Day

  • 297 Ochwalkee Rd. Glenwood, GA (map)

Lola’s Organic Farm, a USDA Certified Organic farm in Glenwood, GA, will hold an Organic Field Day on June 11, 2015. Lunch included.

The FREE organic field day is for all farmers, beginning farmers and ranchers, community gardeners, and organic farmers interested in sustainable ag practices.
Great for farmers, gardeners who want to know more about transitioning to organic production systems AND consumers who want to know more about how their food is grown.

Our Organic Field Day will provide information about organic farm systems and organic certification, our SSARE Producer Grant Project at Lola’s Organic Farm, sustainable organic-agroecology strategies – growing cover crops to manage weeds and build healthy soils, understanding allelopathy effects of cover crops, building pollinator habitats, evaluating your soil and plant tissue, hands-on pruning and grafting practices, initiatives to build sustainable farm conservation practices such as the NRCS-EQIP organic initiatives and high tunnel practice, SARE Producer grants program, and building organic communities.

Our speakers include Dr. Mark Schonbeck, Virginia Association for Biological Farming; Jerald Larson, retired, Fort Valley State University; Southern SARE; Georgia Organics; Florida Organic Growers; and Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), and Lola’s Organic Farm.

Come ready to learn.
