Food History of African Americans in the South

Please join us as we celebrate black history month exploring the food contributions of early African Americans. We will look at what foods were brought to american on the slave ships and how the slaves survived on these foods after they arrived.

We will explore the seeds of the slave and how those important seeds, they brought with them and planted, supplemented their diets.

We will also explore the neo soul foods of today and how we can still eat many of the same foods but with a healthy twist.

  • Learn how herbs can take the place of salt in seasoning your dishes. 
  • Sample healthy dishes and take home some recipes for better living.

Join us for a cooking demonstrations and discussion about food.
