Want to add chickens to your homestead next year or build your feathered friends a better home? Autumn is the perfect time to learn so that you’re ready to hit the ground running in spring with plans in place and costs accounted for.

Join local Homesteader Joey Zeigler ofZeigler Homestead Services and learn the specifics of designing and building your own chicken coop.  Find out many chickens a family might need, how much space should each chicken have, how to care for and clean after your flock, and more!

By the end of the class you will know what it takes to build a coop, the best materials to use, how to control your building cost, and how to protect your flock from predators.

About the Instructor:
Joey Zeigler operates a local business, Zeigler Homestead Services, that helps folks setup food systems in their backyard, including: chicken keeping, coop building, garden coaching, orcharding, passive and active rainwater harvesting systems, custom carpentry and many more homesteading efforts.  Joey has participated in the 2012 Urban Coop Tour of Atlanta, the 2013 Decatur Garden Tour, and sits on the board of directors for Morningside Farmers Market, and is a regular speaker on sustainable agriculture and homesteading techniques.
